Glenn Williams

Therapeutic Coach

Glenn Williams

About Glenn Williams : Glenn joined Fathers’ UpLift in 2021. As a therapeutic coach for the HomeComing Re-entry program, Glenn supports returning men and dads to make successful transitions back into their communities by assisting with housing, employment and treatment needs. In addition to assisting our returning clients in these areas, Glenn also co-facilitates groups for men that are currently incarcerated.

Glenn Williams

Glenn’s Narrative: “I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. My immediate family and I moved to Boston Massachusetts in 1979 when I was nine years old. I have lived in Boston and have been a proud Bostonian ever since. For one year, I attended and completed UMass Boston’s Addictions Counselor Education program. I received training in Restorative Justice practices at Suffolk University and with  other programs  around the country. I am also a level 1 trained Internal Family Systems (IFS) practitioner and am working toward full certification.

I worked 2 ½ years as a street worker, serving the needs of proven-risk young men from the ages of 16-25. I worked for approximately one year as a youth worker doing violence intervention and prevention. My longest work and employment experience has been my  6 plus years as Director of a Community  based, grassroots reentry program. My accomplishments include co-founding a reentry program that serves current and former incarcerated men, women and their families. For this work I have received an award and recognition from the Lewis Family Foundation. I also received the Ron Hering Mission of Service award from the Mankind Project for the overall work I do in our  communities. One thing about Fathers UpLift that I appreciate is  the unique focus on underserved fathers of color and its HomeComing program. Working with marginalized men, fathers and returning citizens is a true passion and love of mine.”

If I could invite someone to dinner.. it would be Malcolm X. His commitment  to self-improvement, his devotion to family and community, his courage in the face of adversity and his love for humanity and  marginalized people all inspired my own self-transformation and desire to make a difference in the world.
