2024 Annual Report

2024 Annual Report: Year of the Father & Future Therapist

Picture one tired dad pacing a quiet apartment and one exhausted grad student cramming for a licensure exam, two strangers linked by the same stubborn hope. 2024, our “Year of the Father & Future Therapist,” pulls them into the same story: dads who once felt shut out now log victories at dinner tables, while diverse trainees find the coaching and cash they need to earn their license and give back. The founders’ letter admits the funding gaps, the shifting jargon, and the weight of building a pipeline of therapists of color, then shows you children finally hearing “I’m proud of you,” and fellows smashing their exams anyway. It hurts to see how high the climb still is, yet every data point shouts that the climb works.

Open the full report and feel the ache, the fight, and the lift that comes when fathers and future therapists rise together.

2023 Annual Report

A lot happened in 2023. We strengthened our community roots, expanded our programs, and made a tangible impact on countless lives. Our work touched nearly 4,000 individuals through therapy and coaching, with 93% of participants reporting improved relationships with their children. Our systemic initiatives, like the United States Therapist Recruitment (USTR) Fellowship, began training a new generation of BIPOC social workers, helping to bridge the cultural competency gap in mental health care.

In 2023, we also launched our Affiliate program, extending our reach to 18+ organizations and clinics across the U.S. This year marked significant strides in youth enrichment, directly supporting at-risk youth in Boston’s neighborhoods. The resilience and dedication of our team and supporters made these achievements possible.

We are thrilled to announce the upcoming release of Dr. Charles Daniels’ book, “PRESENT,” co-authored by Samantha Fils-Daniels, under the prestigious Convergent Books imprint of Penguin Random House. Scheduled for publication on Father’s Day 2025, “PRESENT” explores the social complexities faced by Black and Brown fathers, offering personal stories, practical advice, and insights from our work at Fathers’ UpLift.

2021 Annual Report
