2025 Annual Report: Reconnecting Fathers. Restoring Hope

Imagine a father wondering if his child still wants to hear from him. Imagine another navigating recovery, unemployment, housing instability, or the challenges of reentry after incarceration—all while holding onto the hope of being present for his children.

These are the fathers Fathers’ UpLift serves every day.

Our 2025 Annual Report, Reconnecting Fathers. Restoring Hope., tells the story of what happens when fathers are given the support, tools, and opportunity to heal, reconnect, and thrive.

That year, we directly served 561 fathers through therapy, coaching, advocacy, and reentry support while impacting 1,420 individuals through direct services, workforce development, and community engagement. Behind every number is a father working to overcome barriers and strengthen his relationship with his children.

Within these pages, you will meet Anthony, one father whose journey reflects the resilience and transformation we witness every day. His story stands alongside the experiences of hundreds of fathers who are choosing healing, accountability, and connection despite extraordinary challenges.

You’ll also see how 429 trained practitioners are extending father-inclusive care into communities across the country and explore the outcomes that become possible when fathers are supported rather than overlooked.

The barriers are real. The work is difficult. Yet the stories and data in this report remind us of a powerful truth: healing is possible, reconnection is achievable, and hope can be restored.

We invite you to explore the impact, resilience, and possibility that emerge when fathers are given the opportunity to reconnect with their children—and themselves.

2024 Annual Report: Year of the Father & Future Therapist

In 2024, we strengthened our commitment to two interconnected missions: helping fathers reconnect with their children and expanding the pipeline of culturally responsive mental health professionals.

Throughout the year, fathers facing barriers such as trauma, incarceration, unemployment, and family separation received the therapy, coaching, advocacy, and support needed to remain present in their children’s lives. At the same time, aspiring therapists from diverse backgrounds advanced toward licensure through mentorship, training, and financial support provided through initiatives such as the United States Therapist Recruitment (USTR) Fellowship.

This report highlights the challenges, growth, and achievements that defined the year—from stories of fathers rebuilding relationships with their families to the development of future clinicians prepared to serve their communities.

2023 Annual Report: Building Capacity for Change

In 2023, we deepened our community impact, expanded our reach, and strengthened pathways to healing for fathers and families. Through therapy, coaching, advocacy, and community engagement, we touched nearly 4,000 lives, with 93% of participating fathers reporting stronger relationships with their children.

We launched transformative initiatives, including the United States Therapist Recruitment (USTR) Fellowship, helping cultivate the next generation of culturally responsive BIPOC mental health professionals. We also introduced our Affiliate Network, extending our model to more than 18 organizations and clinics nationwide, while expanding youth enrichment services for young people across Boston neighborhoods.

The year also marked an exciting milestone as Dr. Charles Daniels, Jr. and Samantha Fils-Daniels prepared for the release of Present: The Crisis of American Fatherhood and the Power of Showing Up, published by Harmony, Rodale and Convergent Books, an imprint of Penguin Random House.

These achievements reflect the resilience of the fathers we serve, the dedication of our team, and the relentless support of our community. We invite you to explore this report to learn more about the lives transformed, the partnerships strengthened, and the foundation built for even greater impact in the years ahead.
