About: Dr. Esteban Barreto joined Fathers UpLift as a Visiting Researcher in 2023. He is the Program Director of Research Equity and Faculty in the Disparities Solutions Center at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is also a Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School and Adjunct Faculty at Simmons University.
Dr. Barreto’s Narrative: “My roots lie in Puerto Rico, where I earned my Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. Over a decade, I have engaged in numerous research and quality improvement projects encompassing patient experience, program evaluation, technology feasibility, education, and work culture. Currently, my research is primarily focused on health equity and the diversity workforce. Besides research, I take an active role in teaching and promoting the career development of diverse faculty through continuous mentorship. The commitment to health equity and workforce diversity at Massachusetts General Hospital, combined with the opportunity to mentor diverse talents, makes my role fulfilling and rewarding.”
