Robin Turner

Therapeutic Coach

  • Robin Turner on LinkedIn

About: Robin Turner joined Fathers’ Uplift in 2021 as an Intern and transitioned to being a Therapeutic Coach in 2022. As a Therapeutic Coach, she serves families and Fathers to overcome barriers preventing them from remaining positively engaged in their children’s lives.

Robin’s Narrative: “I was born in Boston but raised in Dorchester, MA, for most of my life. I moved from Dorchester to Hyde Park, MA as an adult with my family, and we also lived in South Carolina from 2000-2002, then moved back to Boston. My parents migrated from South Carolina and North Carolina back in the ’60s.  Something unique about Fathers’ Uplift that keeps me on board is that the founders have a proper understanding of the importance of men of color being actively involved in their children’s lives and how this absenteeism affects the entire family. I obtained a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University in  2022 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology.

From Johnson C. Smith University in 1988.

Most of my work experience is in the human service field. I currently work as a PCA (personal care attendant) with clients who are disabled. I have also worked in a residential facility for 7yrs and as a daycare teacher in prior years before becoming a PCA. My biggest career accomplishment so far is being employed by a great organization such as Fathers’ Uplift Inc., after starting off as a client (and a dad) in need of help and support myself a few years ago.  Also, in past employment, I’ve had the opportunity to support individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities by creating opportunities to engage in the community while maintaining their human dignity and adequate care and treatment.

If I could invite someone to dinner, who would it be?  I would invite Denzel Washington. I admire him as a person with integrity and honor, and compassion for life and people. He is an incredible actor.
