Tamanda Chitalo

2023 USTR Fellow | Master of Social Work, Indiana State University

Tamanda has been actively involved in various volunteer activities, including mentoring and empowering young girls from underprivileged backgrounds. Through her work, she has witnessed firsthand the power of empowering individuals to reclaim their lives and break free from the cycles of poverty and oppression.

Tamanda’s dedication to social justice and equality is not only evident in her academic and volunteer work but also in her personal life. She is a strong advocate for gender equality and women’s rights, constantly seeking opportunities to raise awareness and create change in her community and beyond.

As someone who has experienced firsthand the challenges and obstacles faced by minority populations, Tamanda brings a unique perspective to her work. She understands the importance of creating a safe and inclusive environment for individuals to have their voices heard and their experiences validated.

Looking ahead, Tamanda envisions herself as a leader in her field, advocating for policy changes and systemic reforms to address the root causes of social inequalities. She hopes to continue working with marginalized communities, helping individuals navigate the complexities of their lives and empowering them to create lasting change.

With her unwavering passion, dedication, and commitment to social justice, Tamanda is poised to make a significant impact in the field of clinical social work. Her journey started in Malawi, and is now taking her to new heights as she strives to uplift individuals and communities around the world.
