Joined Fathers’ UpLift: 2021

Responsibilities: Torrey ensures that Fathers’ UpLift employees comply with all guidelines, management directives, and human resources policies.

Role: As the Compliance and Quality Control Associate, Torrey plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of Fathers’ UpLift’s operations by ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.

Staff Narrative:

Torrey Joyner is originally from Yonkers, New York, but has spent his adult life between Connecticut and Massachusetts. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Global Studies and International Affairs from Emmanuel College and a Master’s degree in Theology from Boston University.

Torrey’s professional experience spans from elementary to collegiate education, where he has worked in various capacities. He is proud to have served as a Board Member for multiple organizations and to have contributed to cultural change in college institutions through staff and administrator hiring, as well as program development.

Torrey finds fulfillment in ensuring that Fathers’ UpLift operates smoothly and efficiently, helping to create a supportive environment for both employees and clients.

Why Fathers’ UpLift? Torrey is dedicated to upholding the organization’s values and ensuring a high standard of compliance and quality control, which supports the overall mission of Fathers’ UpLift.

If I could invite anyone to dinner, it would be: James Cone, the founder of Black Liberation Theology. Torrey would like to discuss the relationship between spirituality and race and its implications for reconciliation between Black and White people.

When he’s not at Fathers’ UpLift, Torrey enjoys engaging in theological discussions, exploring cultural change initiatives, and spending time with his community.

Stay up to date with FUL news and impact.
